OutPEAK Program

OutPEAK (Performance Excellence Acquired through Knowledge) Program education fund supports nurses from across BC in their efforts to build knowledge, skills and experience through participation in specialty education at BC Children's Hospital.

The OutPEAK Program's objective is to enable nurses from around the province to participate and learn from the expertise offered at BC Children's Hospital. The program is also intended to help establish or build informal networks among nurses and other knowledgeable resources in BC.  Click here for more information on the program and it's impact.

Children and Youth in Care

The resources listed on this page support the implementation of the Canadian Paediatric Society's Special considerations for the health supervision of children and youth in foster care. In her report, Amanda, Savannah, Rowen and Serena: From Loss to Learning (2008), the Representative for Children and Youth recommended that the CPS guidelines be adopted in British Columbia.

  • College of Physicians and Surgeons of BC Child Abuse and Neglect Guidelines: The Protocol for Communication Between Staff of Ministry For Children and Family Development and Physicians is appended to these guidelines.   • Health Supports for Children in Care and Youth Agreements: This handbook provides information for guardianship and resource workers, foster caregivers and health care professionals to assist them in meeting the health and developmental needs of children and youth in care and youth receiving support through a Youth Agreement.   • Special Education Services Resource Documents Database; An extensive database of resource documents for teachers and others working with students with special need (arranged alphabetically). BCCH Endocrinology & Diabetes Resources - Family Handouts

 The BCCH Endocrinology & Diabetes Unit, in collaboration with Child Health BC, is working with our community partners across BC to develop resources to assist in providing more local care for children with diabetes and other endocrine diseases. As these resources become available on the Endocrinology Website we will continue to update the list of documents available:   Endocrine Handouts (eg: Diabetes Insipidus Letter; Endocrine Travel Letter; Fluid Blance Record; hCG Stimulation Test; Hydorcortisone Injection Instructions; School Letter for Cortisol-Dependent Student; Starting Growth Hormone; etc)
