Dr Maureen O'DonnellMaureen has been part of the BC Children's family since 1993, first as a developmental pediatrician and most recently as the senior medical director for Sunny Hill. In addition, she has taken on numerous clinical, academic and administrative leadership positions on behalf of BC Children's, UBC, the provincial government and national groups. A sample of her work includes:

  • UBC Division Head Developmental Pediatrics 2000 - 2005
  • Advisor to the Deputy Minister on Children and Youth with Special Needs, Ministry of Health Services.
Chair, Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC) Task Group on Developmental Pediatrics, from 2001 - 2003
  • Past president of the Canadian Pediatric Society's Developmental Pediatric Section and current Chair of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada's Committee on Developmental Pediatrics (2003-present)

Maureen has been a member of the Child Health BC Steering Committee since 2008. This, coupled with her administrative and government experience, gives her a familiarity with both the landscape of services in BC and the history of the Child Health BC network.

She believes strongly that the health and wellbeing of all children depends on strong health, social and educational systems as well as upon the social determinants of health. She is excited by the tremendous opportunities that Child Health BC presents to strengthen the health system for BC's children. She looks forward to working with many of you to support Child Health BC's vision: best health for infants, children and youth in BC.
