Shannon Fjeldstad holds the role of Child Health BC Regional Coordinator for Island Health. This role relies on partnerships between varied disciplines and practice settings across the province to plan and implement quality initiatives aimed at improving the health of children. Prior to this role she worked for Island Health; starting as a direct care nurse, and then transitioning into the role of Clinical Nurse Lead at an Island wide, acute, in-patient hospital, providing psychiatric services for children and youth. She has also worked as the manager for the Pediatric inpatient and ambulatory services at Victoria General Hospital. As a part of these roles she has helped to develop program guidelines, implement new initiatives and oversee day to day operations. She gained experience working with interdisciplinary teams, community partners and involving staff, patients and families in a trauma informed approach. Shannon has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Masters of Public Health and Social Policy from the University of Victoria. In her free time she enjoys swimming, camping, and kayaking.
