Child Health BC Regional Coordinator for Interior Health

Trish Thomson is the CHBC Regional Coordinator for the Interior Health region. She has 24 years of clinical nursing and leadership experience within the maternal child population in both acute and public health care systems. Prior to this role, she worked as a nursing manager of rural Pediatric/Obstetric and Surgical units within Interior Health. She is passionate about working in partnership with her colleagues across the health regions to ensure continuous quality care for children and their families.
 
She holds a Master’s of Science in Nursing Degree from the University of Victoria. Her research thesis focused on the effects of weighing practices of newborns on breastfeeding outcomes. This research was published in the Canadian Nurse (2009). 

In her free time, she enjoys the many recreational opportunities that the Interior provides for her and her family. She recognizes and is grateful to be able to live, work and play within the unceded, traditional and ancestral territory of the Sinixt as well as the Ktunaxa, Syilx and Secwépemc Nations who have also walked the lands of the West Kootenays.
