Education
The Child Health BC education team supports within and across clinical programs to provide educational leadership for the planning, coordination, delivery and evaluation of education initiatives. The team collaborates with education partners across the province, providing consultation and guidance to support the development, evaluation and maintainence of accessible, evidence-based learning resources grounded in best and wise practices, to support clinicians delivering care to children and youth.
Resources for Interdisciplinary Pediatric Practice and Learning: RIPPL was developed in partnership with BC Children's Hospital in 2024, to support the development of foundational pediatric knowledge amongst interdisciplinary clinicians. RIPPL is anchored in reconciliation, fostering learning that reflects fundamental commitments to Indigenous Peoples. The platform is free and accessible to ensure that all healthcare providers can use it, regardless of their location or resources. It is intentionally self-directed, allowing users to assess their own learning needs and access relevant content when and how they need it. To build trust, RIPPL is informed by the best available evidence and wise practices grounded in the BC context. Participation is entirely voluntary, reinforcing its role as a supportive, learner-centered resource.
ECHO on RIPPLiVE: Learning in a Virtual Environment: The ECHO model began at the University of New Mexico and has since spread globally. ECHO utilizes hub-and-spoke knowledge-sharing networks, led by expert interdisciplinary teams who use multi-point video conferencing to develop virtual communities of practice with interdisciplinary clinicians. CHBC is proud to collaborate with the Canadian ECHO superhub (ECHO Ontario) on the path to becoming the center for pediatric ECHOs in British Columbia.
CHBC accepts students for unpaid placement as part of student’s post-secondary education practicum experiences. If you are interested in a future placement, please reach out via the education email CHBCEducation@phsa.ca
