Quality and Evaluation
At Child Health BC, we use quality improvement and evaluation to strengthen child and youth health services across the province. By working closely with our network partners and families, we use data to understand system performance, identify gaps, and drive meaningful improvements in care. Collaboration with those we serve and work alongside, ensures our efforts are culturally safe, relevant, and effective.
Quality and evaluation provide the foundation for understanding system performance, identifying opportunities for improvement, and ensuring that changes lead to better outcomes. In alignment with these principles, we are adopting a Learning Health System (LHS) approach—one that enables continuous learning from the delivery of care and translates that learning into action.
By following a Learning Health System (LHS) approach (see image), this means we:
- Use timely data to inform decisions and adapt care.
- Test and spread changes to improve outcomes.
- Support a cycle of continuous learning and action.
Our Child Health BC Quality Plan outlines the core components of Child Health BC’s approach to quality. These pillars (see image below) guide how we participate in projects, collaborate with partners, and support system-wide improvements in child and youth health across British Columbia. More details of our quality plan to follow.
